Although we can offer triple glazed, multi-point locking tilt & turn log cabin windows, that would be somewhat overkill for a small storage cabin! Therefore we have 4 options for our log cabins –
- Simple casement windows with simple catches (Scandinavian loop latches) – single glazed or double glazed. Option for safety glass and trickle vents. These are ideal for summerhouses, garden storage cabins or any uninsulated building
- Simple tilt & turn casement windows – 24mm double glazed, rudimentary tilt & turn mechanism, basic multi-point locking (most cabin companies claim these are the best on the market – obviously not!). Options for trickle vents and frosted glass. Ideal for small garden offices, games rooms, teenagers dens, man caves.
- ISO house quality casement windows – 68mm glulam frame and sash, 24mm float glass double glazing OR upgrade to thermal toughened 24mm double glazing, 5 point multi-point locking operated from the handle (commonly used in house windows), inward opening tilt & turn mechanism (again operated from the keyed handle). Options for trickle vents and frosted glass. Ideal for our building regulation compliant residential Twin Skin insulated cabins (commercial offices, school classrooms, large sports pavilions, habitable residential cabins).
- ISO house quality casement window as above but 90mm glulam frame plus 28mm triple glazing (float or toughened thermal glass) – if you have opted for one of our 60+60mm or 70+70mm highly insulated Twins Skin cabin homes then these are the windows for you (if you’ve got the best insulated cabin available then you want the best windows available to match as well).
Window advice
It is very much a case of horses for courses – we will chat with you to determine which option is best for your needs rather than just offer 1 choice which may be totally wrong for the use you need. These are a step above any other log cabin windows out there! Glass is usually the coldest spot in a log cabin where you lose most heat per square metre of area. If you have a lot of glazed walling then this will help your overall building U value (thermal value) tremendously. Or may be you want to keep your heating bills down during the winter, and also keep the cabin cool inside during the summer.
